The Boston Conservatory trains exceptional young
performing artists for careers that enrich and transform the human experience.
The Boston Conservatory today is an independent private college with fully accredited programs in music, dance, and theater, and serves as a dynamic meeting place of the performing arts. A distinctive, multi-disciplinary structure is key to the Conservatory's success in training working artists and future teachers. A "trade school" in the best sense of the word, TBC faculty provide practical training that is rigorous: class time, applied lessons, practice, ensemble rehearsal and performance - all designed to foster professional skills. Without exception, our faculty members practice what they teach, holding positions with the Boston Symphony and Boston Pops orchestras, the Boston Lyric Opera, Boston Ballet, Prometheus Dance, and a host of other prominent local and national companies. The Conservatory prides itself on remaining small and selective (just over 500 students), and they strive constantly to take best advantage of this intentionally intimate learning environment. TBC students are seen as "whole artists" and individuals, and we offer a number of programs and events designed to enhance their lives both in and out of the classroom. The Conservatory's success is visible not only in its learning environment, but in the professional accomplishments of its graduates. Boston Conservatory alumni currently perform as musicians with the Berlin Philharmonic, Boston Symphony Orchestra and Boston Pops, Chicago Lyric Opera and Metropolitan Opera; as dancers with Boston Ballet, Alvin Ailey, Martha Graham, José Limón, Paul Taylor, Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, and Merce Cunningham Dance Company; as actors/singers/dancers at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park and London's Globe Theater, and frequently on Broadway and in touring productions. The Boston Conservatory offers weekly student performances to the public
in music, dance, and theater. The TBC Events Calendar can be seen online
